Noisy NEQ6

Hi all.

I bought an NEQ6 this year, specifically with the intention to do some AP. The skies have scuppered that for now, but I've noticed when setting up for testing that the gears are very noisy (grinding noise) when the scope begins to slew and the same when it is coming to a halt.

Is this normal?

Yes, no need to worry it's a normal noise. It's not grinding just the gears getting up to speed.

Most of the NEQ6's make that noise when starting and stopping a slew - mine did too. A full strip down and regrease will make it much quieter but it's nothing to worry about at this point - mine (now sold on) was about 2yrs old and still worked perfectly.

My HEQ5 does this too. Put the wind up me first time but it's totally normal from what I've read.

Same with my Heq5. sound awful slewing.

But if you are really worried I'll take it off your hands, lol
