stellarium controlling a telescope

Hi,

This morning I was looking for the comet C- 2012 S1/ISON Comet.

downloaded earlier in the year.

slewing to mars CTL & 1 = good

slewing to Spica CTL &1 =good

slewing to zavijava CTL &1 good

visually comet in the expected place

slewing to comet , scope went to near the pole star.

slewing to other stars near comet , scope went wrong?

slewing to other stars near comet = good.

anything obvious I am missing?

I was careful to press CTRL &1 for each slew to object.

any ideas?

I had to use the manual buttons on the scope to reach the problem targets.

RA & DEC looked as expected, except dec went -ve degrees? (th 2nd number)

cord wrap on scope set to OFF (6se celestron)

It might be worth entering the RA/DEC coordinates that Stellarium gives by hand into the Nexstar handset ( I find the ones where 2000 is in brackets work best)
