Object moving near Uranus.

While I was observing Uranus tonight, a very slow moving object moved through the FOV.

I was using a 70° eyepiece at 300x so the object was perhaps 3 or 4 arc minutes below the disc and moving from west to east. It took a good 30 seconds to cross the bottom of the field.

11:48 pm on the 23rd. It appeared star like and at a guess about mag 6 ish, maybe fainter.

Any ideas? Probably a satellite but very slow.

It sounds like a geo stationary sattelite. They need constant course corrections to stay in the same part of the sky.

Most LEOs would be in eclipse, not visible and be to fast.

Most likely something much further out, cannot see a geostationary on my Stellarium but I might be missing some.

Mike, that's a very good point you make about any satellite in that position being in shadow.

Could an asteroid be the culprit perhaps.

Ajisai is the only satellite close to Uranus at that time that I could see.

Google it to find some info if you're interested.

I've seen her a few times.

It's pretty much just a bunch of mirrors put together. Kinda cool looking if you ask me.
