Celestron Mak C130 'to collimate or not ?'

Recommended Posts

I have recently bought a Celestron C130 F15 Mak that seems to have no way of collimating it, from what I am aware scopes should have a collimating screw set on the front lens but this scope does not, any idea's why ?

The only information I have given is because it is a F15 and collimation may not be required, Is this true?

Any advise would be great, Cheers

And Happy Christmas to All, and a happy new year.

ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVEN'T SNAPPED THEM OFF BY ACCIDENT! Did you blame your dog? You need to take great care with fine, precise optical equipment...

My advice is don't try and wire a plug if your colour blind.

This review might help you:

There is no collimation of the secondary (in common with a number of Mak designs) possible but the main mirror is adjustable - but you need to take the back off the scope.

If it star tests OK (after a decent cool down time) I would not worry about collimating it.

Could you two keep that sort of stuff between yourselves please - it's an Astro forum not a place to settle old scores :nono:

I hope the link was some use re: your 130 Mak.

Seasons greetings to both of you

Don't worry John, it is astro related because he accidently broke my 'scope', but he will have to be forgiven because he's married to my sister!!!

Its all in good humour!!!

Thanks for the explanation Rob
