microfibre cloth

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I have a couple of optical microfibre cloths (pentax brand) that I use for the final stage of cleaning optics. I think they are now making things worse and wondered if anyone had any tips on how to wash them/rejuvenate them. The instructions say machine washable but I would be wary of this in case detergent is left in them.

Would hot water do the trick?

cheers

Pure soap is a key. Pure baby soap as there are no additives which can crystalize when dry.

Many years ago I used to use dead weight testers (piston gauge in the US) and to clean the air gap on air DWT's we only used pur baby soap and then rinse with distilled water so no deposits were left. Even a partial finder print would cause a DWT to not rotate freely.
