First LRGB image (Western Veil Nebula)

Hello all!

I finally made my first LRGB image now (or rather HaRGB).

I can´t say I am really happy with it. I think the color balance is abit off.

Does anyone have any tips for what I can do better, and what I should think of?

Camera: Atik 314l+

Exposure: Ha 10x600s, R, G & B 10x120s

Thanks for watching. :)

It looks like you've used Ha as luminance. I never feel this works well. You get very pale cyan-biased blues and very pinkish reds.

For me the place to start is to split channels and add Ha to red in Blend Mode Lighten. Flatten and then try a tiny bit of Ha as lum.

Thank you both of you. :)

fwm891: Never considered the focus but now that you say it...

It´s mainly the blue channel right?

Olly: Ohh. Yes I used Ha as Lum. Didn´t know that the lum could influence the colors that much.

Thanks for the info! :) Now I shoot from a very LP affected city. Do you think a CLS filter as lum would work?

Or just shorter UV/IR filter shots?

Redid it slightly. Following your advice Olly. Now the Ha Lum is about 15% opacity and I blended some Ha into the red channel.

I also reduced the stars in the blue channel to try and temporary fix the focus issues. Not a solution to it I know, but something untill I have time to redo the blue channel. :)
