UHC filter queries

I recently bought this Hb&OIII Nebula UHC 2" off Ebay

I had the chance to test it out the last few nights, and haven't been impressed. :insects1:

Firstly it seems to leave a small blue halo around my stars and secondly i cannot seem to focus tightly no matter what i try, as i get a duplicate star in blue next to image of the star.

Now the seller sells a lot of his own brand name astronomical / optical filters, has his own website and seems clued up.

Could it be my setup or is this a inherent problem with trying to use a visual/ccd filter on a dslr camera?

Although personally i havent used that seller i know a few others have.

They have reported no problems and found it good value as far as i know.

Was the filter a specific CCD one ?

I picked up a 1.25" UHC from this guy purely on the basis that I was going to use it only for visual observations and for this it does it's job nicely.

My understanding is imaging filters are have different properties.

I bought one a long while back back and tried it for video work, not a patch on the good stuff.

I've got one of those Kevin, I'll give it a go and report back. I got it as it was cheap and the Hb is supposed to be good for stuff in Orion. Orion is only just coming into view for me do watch this space.
