Are these bino's any good for astonomy ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I know nothing about binoculars. A friend has a pair she is selling for a tenner and I wondered if they'd be any good for a bit of star gazing ; Trikon 2050 20x55 3.3 degree field.

Thx

Hi Buzz,

I do not know the brand, but it sounds like a play on Nikon!!.

However at 20X magnification they are going to take some holding or need a tripod to keep steady, usually 8 to 12 X for handohlding binos is the max. Not a big investment for a tenner and if they did not suit you could probaby sell 'em on ebay!!

For a tenner, I think they're worth a go!

You can always use an up turned broom to rest them on for the time being! Anything you can lean up against on hold them against to steady them will do. I use the poles of the children's swing when I can't be bothered to set anything else up!

Cheers
