June 8, 2013: Some views in H-alpha

Recommended Posts

I set up the solar scope again today, and had quite some good views of the sun. I am warming more and more to the low magnification views provided by the MaxVision 24mm 68o EP. Fainter proms are easily spotted, and there were quite a few, both on the western limb (which has seen most of the action lately), and on the eastern limb. Hopefully they herald new ARs. On the eastern half of the disk (which seemed fairly devoid of activity in white light), I spotted the same huge dark filament to the south that I spotted first a day or two ago. Northwards were two filamentous structures: one dark and one light. Maybe an AR is developing in that region
