Which RACI finder scope?

Recommended Posts

Marc, there would be nothing to stop you using it as a starter scope, if you so wished, but you have to remember that these units with built in cross hairs are designed for a specific purpose, most have small objectives and low magnification, with a limited field of view (FOV)  A beginners telescope on the other hand, even with small apertures, is capable of using a variety of eyepieces to give variable magnifications within the limits dictated by the focal length and size of the main objective.

Even basic binoculars, within the lower power range, giving a much better FOV would be preferable to using a finder scope, HTH :)

Makes perfect sense...was unaware of the cross-hairs.......thx!

..... how often do you use Telrad and RACI finder scope together?

With LP skies, a lot! Not for the larger planets, easy stuff etc, but my Rigel/RACI together are *really* helpful on fainter (ie most!) DSOs and whatnot. Classic kit-pairing.
