first go at Jupiter

Hi, finally got the webcam out, Christmas present, but first chance to use it.

Webcam is a Microsoft vx5000, scope is Zeiss telementor. Used a x2 Barlow. Manual track.

First go so any comments welcome.

2 minute video using sharpcap then processed with regisax6 and final bit of colour via my phone.

Was taken at 7:40pm 30/3/12. Not sure what the dark circle is at bottom of disc. Don't think moons were in postion to show or shadow.

The dark circle is a moon shadow.

Seeing last night was very poor so well done.

Thanks. Been looking at moons positions but didn't any were in position to cast a shadow.

The old telementor cuts through seeing like a knife through butter.

Very nice pic. Any theories for which moon it was though as Stellarium doesn't seem to suggest that there was a moon transit around that time.

Stellarium only shows earth prospective, from suns prospective it would seem to be Io's shadow.

At 19:40UT it would have been Ganymedes shadow.

Nice shot for a first go! I used my 127 Mak for these two images, processed with PIPP, Registax and Photoshop. I did find trouble focusing the planet, is that down to turbulence or just my eyes??!
