Holmes - Brief Encounter

At 6pm the sky was completely clear so I thought I would snap a few quick Holmes pics. When the first appeared on the screen the colour looked a bit odd , doh!! forgot to replace the light pollution filter in the optical train. Took the camera off , put the CLS filter back. Took another short exp image - well that was it , clouds came across and it started to rain . Pack everything away.

In case you have wondered about the effectiveness of LP filters the second image is the one without the LP filter. The only downside is the slightly increased exposure lengths you have to employ.

Both exposures were 20secs - note more stars visible with the LP filter missing.

Nice John. I have seen a load of images of this comet, and some of them have unusual colours, but I quite like this pinky red one you have produced.
