Orion Star Shoot IV

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Been thinking about as to whether to get one of these and am still undecided. Has any one got any experiences of the "Star shoot", and as to whether its worth spending the 80 odd quid and if is suits my set up for use on my Mak or my 130.

I want to get into imaging but don't want to spend big bucks on equipment and then not use it and also don't want to spend money on something that's not suitable.

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

The first question is what do you want to image, deep sky or planetary or both, the camera you mention is only good for planetary stuff or autoguiding a larger scope, for deep sky you should be looking at a DSLR or if funds permit a dedicated CCD camera.

hope that helps

Would eventually like to do both planetary and deep sky, and reading up on the orion, it seems to be good for planetery as you mention. I have been looking at the DSLR and CCD camera's and the rational behind the Orion was a "dipping my toe in the water" to see how I got on with imaging, but also don't spend £80 on something I may use for a few months and then decided a CCD is what I want!

Hi, I'm Alan from Colchester. Just sold my Jessops 4" scope (cost me £40 ) and am looking at celestrons 127slt and 130 slt. Not sure which yet. Does the Orion iv fit either of these scopes ?

The Orion SSi uses a standard 1.25" nosepiece which will allow the camera to fit any telescope that uses a standard 1.25" focuser or a 2" focuser with a 1.25" adapter.
