GSO RC8" + OAG + CCD67 + Lacerta Mgen

Recommended Posts

Hi all !

I'm currently imaging with a RC8", a Canon 45°D DSLR, and a CCDT67 in between.

I have the CCDT67 at the proper distance from the sensor, 85mm.

(Canon + T2 ring : 55mm + 30 mm of extensions).

I plan on using a TSOAG9EOS.

So First question :

I'm not sure, but I understand that the short design of the TS OAG makes it suitable for such use.

Now the big question, is what backfocus is the TS OAG taking ?

I understand it's like the Lacerta OAG, and that it could replace the T2 ring taking the same optical path length.

Is that correct ? Or will I need to adjust the spacers to reach my 85mm between the CCDT67 and the DSLR's sensor ?

I guess if I'm OK with the DSLR, I'll be then OK with the guide cam as well ?

Second question :

I understand guide cameras are NOT easy to get un focus. Mostly, I read about standard guide cameras like Lodestars and the likes.

The Mgen has a disadvantage about this : you can't get the image on a PC. It feeds the hand control and that's it. Yet.

So the question is is there anybody out here using an Mgen with an OAG ?

How do you proceed to get it into focus when all you can actually use is a real star ?

Thanx for your input !

Best regards,
