If you take a synscan handset from a skymax alt/az mount, will it work with an equatorial mount (and essentially behave like an upgrade)? I'm thinking of upgrading mounts and wondered about the HEQ5. Thanks again!

If you flash the handset with the latest revision of the firmware http://www.skywatcher.com/swtinc/customer_support.php?id=124&class1=1&class2=101 you can use the handset with either mount. You will also need a cat5 network cable to connect the handset to the HEQ5 Syntrek.
