Lazy Susan for dob

Hi, have you used the Salikote on the Alt bearings at all or just the base?

I wouldnt use Sailcote on the Alt bearings, if your scope isnt perfectly balanced or if you swap from a heavy to light EP you'll probably end up with some balancing issues.

I mabe a 16" Dob using teflon and ebony star laminate. Adding a centre pivot to take some of the weight and waxing the laminate regularly. Reults were good and the whole scope can be moved easily with your little figer.

I think thats quite often the case with bigger scopes with more weight and bigger azi bearings Steve, its the smaller bases that can kinda get a little sticky hence the lazy susan mods.

Thinking about it the 16" Dob is at times easier to make small movements to follow an object. Makes sence realy, an inch of movement on a larger bearing will move the scope less accross the sky I supose.
