Back to basics quicky - aligning HEQ5

Recommended Posts

Just checking, once polar aligned and you bring your scope back to home position, does Polaris have to be in the centre of your eyepiece and finderscope?

Obviously I can't move the bolts I did to polar align because that would put my alignment out wouldn't it?

So assume just in approx direction and then do the star alignment using the synscan?!

Another senior moment.

No ,

Polaris is unlikely to be on view in the EP at all.

It just needs to be in the correct position in the polarscope .

For basic home position line the weight bar up with the north facing tripod leg and set the dec to 90 degrees

Try this tutorial . . . http://www.astronomyshed.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1893 . . . it's based on the EQ6 but still applies to the HEQ5
