Before you replace it you can improve the feel and performance of this focuser, you can remove the focuser then remove the draw tube from the OT, you will notice that the flat edge of the draw tube is only marked right on the edges of the flat , with wet and dry paper, you can, with care , extreme car , flatten the edges so the the focus mechanism will come into contact with the whole surface., To do this, place wet and dry paper on a flat surface ,hold the draw tube's flat edge onto the wet and dry and gently without much pressure move the draw tube in circular motions keeping the flat edge square with the surface your working on .To check the progress use a ruler or something similar with a straight edge and when the ruler comes into contact with the draw tube across the whole fat surface your done the adjuster of the focuser will now be in contact with the whole flat surface instead of just the raised edges. Place the now sorted tube back into the OT , attach the focuser assembly back on and adjust the tension of the focuser using the screws on the underside to enable a good contact with the draw tube

This video tutorial helped me a great deal
