Upgrading from a 180 mak

Recommended Posts

i have owned my sw 180 mak for three years now,and have been quite pleased with my planetary webcam images taken with it.my favourite objects are mars, jupiter and saturn, but i always find saturn a bit dim @ f30+ . i now have about £2000 available for a new 'scope and am wondering if a c9.25 classic,or a c11 classic, or a c8 edge hd would be a good upgrade choice. my mount is a cg5 and i have recently purchased an asi120mm planetary imager.

thanks for any advice!

cheers,phil

As a mak 180 owner, i would say a C9.25 would be a decent upgrade, any thing bigger and you will be looking at a mount upgrade with it, using a x2 barlow will give you a focal length of 4064 mm, another option would be an Orion Omc200, but finding one would be very hard
