I was considering buying a DMK31

Via the field of view calculator it is saying that the camera cannot give me a full image of the sun. Thus, the camera seems too powerful with my set up, only given me the surface and not image of the whole sun.

My question is can you alter the magnification or zoom so I can get the whole image?

You need to reduce the effective focal length of your system.

ATik (and others) supply a x0.5 nosepiece reducer which might do the job.
