Meade Autostar controller error HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I am needing some help for a friend of mine who has a problem with his meade 494 autostar controller, the scope has been working fine without any problems for the year he has had it. and the other day he changed the batteries over as old ones had gone flat. when he fired it up a message has shown now saying ( Proc Trap 2 error ) and we can't seem to get it going again. nothing. if it had been playing up we could understand but it's been sound as a pound.

Any help here would be fantastic help to him and me.

Many thanks stu

Try the Weasner's site.

I found this page:

Weasner

Press Control f and seach for "trap"

2 instances come up, there may be more elsewhere on other pages.

Unfortunately each seems to give different reasons.

First implies there is a tension screw or similar too tight (???) and this is to prevent burnout.

Second says a flat battery that should last 10 years buyt hasn't.

Second option gives a few possible ways around it.

List of the codes:

The message you'll see is: Proc. Trap N,

with "N" being a hexadecimal number.

The numbers mean:

0 Clock Monitor Fail

1 COP timeout failure

2 Illegal Op Code

3 Software Interrupt

4 XIRQ pin

5 IRQ pin

6,7,8 Timer Input Capture 1,2,3

9,A,B,C Timer Output Compare 1,2,3,4

D Combined TIC4/TOC5

E Pulse Accumulator Overflow

F Pulse Acc Input Edge

10 SPI serial transfer complete

Obtined from another Weasner page:

Weasner2

It says 2= Illegal Op Code, usually meaning the code is jumping to a wrong instructioin or the code is corrupt.

Seriously sounds as if new firmware could be required, or the same firmware installed from the Meade site.
