alan potts
Hi Folks, I would like some advice.Just bought from site 40D with Mod from cloudbuster, thanks for the sale. Now I know the Eos system fairly well but my 1DS's are a little different. Could you give me the best camera settings for use on a scope as I have never shot night sky before. I am going to try it out with one of my large telephotos first but will put it onto my 115mm Apm and most likely guide it with my Lacerta guider, if I can find it.The good thing about this is the 1.6x chip, so my 500mm F4 become 800mm, that's some telephoto and the 200mm F1.8 becomes 320mm that should be good for something.Camera setting please. and exposure times. I have a very dark site.ThanksAlan.

Photosbykev
Turn off all the in camera Noise reduction, make sure you are shooting in Raw and AdobeRGB colour space, Try iso 800 and a minute for a basicexposure and go from there. Don't forget darks and flats.Last night was clear (ish), I think a lot of people may of been out as well.
