A good delivery / courier service ?

I need to send an EQ mount, tripod counterweights etc across country. Can anyone recommend a delivery / courier service ? - one that does not cost the earth but will pick up and drop off at specified locations would be great. Speed is not so critical as reliability.

John, I've used these a couple of times (including to send my old Dob up to Glasgow) and never had any aggro with them. They are an agent for DHL.

Good price, but insurance cover is only £100.

I have used www.senditnow.com, marginally dearer, but £150 cover.

I've had these guys used (wasn't the buyer myself).

You can add insurance (£500 costs £7).

You're getting Parcelforce's service but at a third of the price.

Make sure the dimensions are not over limit though - £25 fine!
