QHY5 guiding setting up and polar alignment?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question!

I am trying to get my head around the setup process for guiding. I have yet to buy a QHY5.

Do I setup the mount, but with no requirement to polar align, then align with maybe 2 stars so that CdC is roughly accurate and then, once on the desired target for imaging, fire up PHD and choose a star etc?

I was told that there is no requirement to polar align but how will CDC be accurate if you don't?

Thanks

Tony

i prefer drift alignment for imaging, i dont think anything else has been as accurate for myself. i like the idea of watching the atrget and knowing it has not moved for a period of time.i would guess the better the alignment, the less work for the guider and less rotation of the image
