My ED80 setup after a cabling session

I got fed up of the messy cabling so decided to make a clip on panel I can use to mount my USB hub and 12 V power splitter. Quite pleased with the result. Made from a piece of wood 8x4 covered with black felt. Screwed 2 plastic coated spring clips to the back. Stuck some Velcro on the front (hook side), and then Velcro on the hub and power splitter. Then tied all the cables together with Velcro straps. Much better :)

You will also note a USB dongle sticking out sideways. That's a GPS dongle that inputs the site coordinates to Alignmaster and

Both replies:

Yep. It's a USB powered hub. I power it via a 12v DC converter cigar type thingy that plugs into the splitter that goes to the power tank unit. It's this one from Maplin:

And yep, it's a GPS dongle. Again, from Maplin. It works great with the align master software and other Ascom stuff which includes the various apps such as Nebulosity, etc. this is the link for the dongle:

Using the powered hub gives me more umph to the bits that need it. Together, these bits aren't cheap, but I think the value of the entire setup justifies me not scrimping on the ancillaries :)
