I recently looked at a previous post about somebody looking for an observatory near oxford. I am looking for a similer experiance but rather nearer swindon???

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Steve, nothing too near Swindon I am afraid. As above at Marlborough is the nearest, but as said no public events, pretty hard to get into this one. The best course would be to become a 'friend' of the observatory by the look of it. Have you tried 'Swindon Stargazers', the local astronomy group, no observatory but keen on astronomy and we have a telescope evening event coming up on the 21 September, see Club Diary for details and directions: http://www.swindonstargazers.com/clubdiary/clubdiary.htm
