Has anyone experience with Explore scientific 8.8mm 82°

Mine suffered from the glare from broght objects just out of view, as reported by others. This has been quelled with a ring of black card in the barrel covering the field lens housing. For use with glasses, eye relief is not really adequate. I do not like it much for day time use. Otherwise it is a *very* nice, well corrected, wide field eyepiece and I use mine a lot as part of my standard set, along with the 4.7mm and the ES68 16mm and 24mm.

Thanks Chris. Is there no way of just blackening the barrel. ES should really be recalling the 8.8 and doing it themselves rather than expecting their customers to go bodging it. OK the recent sale makes them a bargain but still not acceptable when you consider they are well aware of the problem. That's the 8.8 of the B'day list then :(

Besides the bundled Celestron 9mm that came with my Mak (where did I put that?!), I've no real comparison, so take with a handful of salt...

I haven't noticed the glare with mine, but I'm not saying it doesn't exist... what kind of bright object are we talking about here? Vega? Jupiter? THe moon? Given a clear night (I've almost forgotten what those look like), I'll be looking for it! :D

I also don't find the ER uncomfortable, but I don't wear glasses for observing.

I like it so far, but would be curious to know what I'm missing with a comparable Nagler/Ethos family. For $99 I really like it.
