Eyes on the Sky: August 13 thru August 19

Recommended Posts

Last week I got a great question by email about where our solar system is in the Milky Way, and how we see the Milky Way from our location. In my response, I used a pizza as an example, so given Sagittarius' present location, I thought I'd use this opportunity present the 'solar system in a pizza' comparison.

So while you're looking at Sagittarius and getting hungry thinking of melted cheese and pepperoni, check out the fantastic clusters you can see in the area like M7 and M22. The elusive Mercury makes itself visible for a short while this week as well, and lastly don't miss Mars as it zips by Saturn.
