Cambridge solar encyclopedia

Hi AT, There are a number of solar imagers on SGL, but I would PM Starman, and ask his advice on solar literature.

I single him out because he seems to me to into it in a fairly big way.

If you go to the imaging section, and look under Lunar Solar Imaging, you will see a lot of his Solar work, and it is impressive.

I am sure he would not mind offering advice to you. Worth a try at least.

Good Luck

Ron.

I have the Cambridge solar encyclopedia and it's very good. Lots of pictures and even some good descriptions.

Another good book is Nearest Star by Jay Pasachoff, ISBN 0-674-01006-X. It's wonderfully written and easy to understand.

A good one for basics, but a little dated, is Rudolf Kippenhahn's 100 Billion Suns. It explores the physics of stars and fusion, life cycle etc.

But it occurs to me you may be interested in simply imaging the Sun. In which case, Starman would be your guy, not to mention Kaptain Klevsov, who's advanced by leaps and bounds.

many thanks for your advise chaps.

I have been attempting to image the sun for sometime. using NVE. not had a great deal of luck viewing prominences with it.

I am also now looking at using K3tools instead.

generally i am keen to read up on the sun and make it my specialist field. after 20 years its time to specialise. no poiint in doing deep sky as i cannot see the stars for the lp.

Of course i will always remain interested in DS and observe at every available opportunity.
