Blinking Nebula with 10" Dob

This object is fantastic... yes it is small, but was surprisingly bright. When I stare at it, it just dissapears in to blackness from edges to core. Then with a blink reappears like magic. Love it!

I found it a real b*****r to find though.. Right on the zenith when I looked :shock:

Anything around the zenith is very trick with a Dob, you did very well to find it.

I must admit it took longer than 10 minutes... the whole exercise went from cricking my neck 90 degrees to knees on the floor stretching by neck all over the place. Turn Left at Orion to my side, I finally found it

I can't for the life of me figure out how something so bright (in a 10") can disappear the minute my eye moves onto it. There's dimmer objects that I can see by direct vision and by averted and they don't disappear.

At least you know when you've found it!
