Solar imaging with a Ha PST & DMK21AU mono

Hi all,

I'm trying to do some solar imaging with the above equipment unfiltered but all I'm managing to get is a blinding white disc that will not focus or show any detail. I've tried reducing the gain, exposure & such but no joy. I tried using a barlow with the lens removed to see if that would help with achieving focus but still no joy.

I've tried the capture software I got with the camera & sharpcap but neither has made a difference.

Can anyone offer advice as to what settings or filters etc I need to get some detail?

To get focus you will find you need a low profile nosepiece for the camera. Sorted me out.

What gain and exposure did you use? Even if it was out of focus it should not be "blinding white" image.

Thanks for the advice guys, turns out I just needed a low profile focuser after all. I got one today & here is my 1st pic, it's a bit over processed but I'm very happy with it nonetheless.
