1 weight or 2?

Recommended Posts

My scope weighs 5.67kg.

So do I put on 1 weight which weighs 5kg or two which'll weigh 10kg? I am also attaching my DSLR camera to the scope tonight. I have a heq5 synscan goto and a Celestron C8 XLT OTA.

You have to experiment since there are pros and cons to each and the particular strengths and weaknesses of the mount will determine which dominates. Any flexure in the CW bar might favour the shorter, 2 weight setup. If the mount is struggling with the total weight, which is likely, then one weight would be best.
