Hi there,

With the lack of clear nights, I went back at some old data using the recently reported DSLR-LRGB approach. This time I reprocessed NGC891 and IC 5146. Details, largers version and the old versions are on my site.

Very nice indeed.

It shows how using a separate luminance layer created from grayscale is well worth the trouble.

I now do that for every photo.

I try a few different luminance layers.

With a DSLR a lot of the info is in the green spectrum which is lost when you balance the colours.

Therefore I play around with a colour version first & even use selective colour

to find the colour detail that is hiding in the image & THEN convert to grayscale.

You have done well.
