Actually you have a good point. It's possible to build a dob using a cardboard tube, why not an eyepiece.

As long as you line the outside with a waterproof material (neoprene anyone?), It would work, of course, the interior would have to be done very accurately, and would be difficult to take apart if you ever needed to.

Duck tape? I just use PVA Glue with cardboard
