Nikon D3100

Hi, does anyone use this camera for imaging? I am thinking of using it on a tripod, not on the scope. I wondered if the hd video could be converted to avi and stacked for better resolution. Anybodies experiences with this camera would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I use the D3100 and have had some good results. Comparing it to other people`s images using the same scope as mine I can`t see a difference. Not sure about using the video though I alway use a webcam.

Ditto Petes post, I think using the video without a scope will return very little.

You could certainly produce some good startrail images. I'm not sure you would get anything useable on a tripod with a video.

Mounted on a tracking mount you can get some good wide field shots, again not using the video function.
