Celestron Nexstar 4SE or Skywatcher Skymax 127

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine is after his first scope and he has become torn between the 2 in the title. Here is what he asked me

"Does a Nexstar 4SE have superior enough optics over the skywatcher 127 to make it as good despite the smaller aperture?"

Now I know that generally it would be seen that aperture is king but in this case could a newer better quality smaller scope out do a slightly lesser quality, older, larger scope?

And does anyone know of any pros/cons when comparing the goto mounts?

Celestron do the 127mm, so if you want to stay with Celestron Nexstar127 slt is £369 from Telescope planet and the 4se is £398 from 365 astronomy.... I bet the two 127mm come out of the same Factory with SW and Celestron badges on them.

The 127 Mak is a great scope whchever make. Between the two 4Se /127mm apperture is king as you say. It would be the 127mm for me with any badge on!...

Cheers
