Synscan Hand controller goes off on one!

I've got an HEQ5 and an NEQ6 and I've had the same issue with both.

Every so often the controller seems to get stuck when say centering an

object the contoller freezes and the mount just

goes off on one. The only thing that I was able to do was to switch off as

none of the buttons on the controller seem to make the mount respond.

This is very anoying as have to star align again.

Does anyone have any similar experience of this or know of a fix.

What are you powering them off?

Powered from a 15A regulated bench top power supply.

Hmm ok, I asked because I have has similar problems with the ETX when using batteries and have heard similar problems with other mounts with unsuitable power units. Your power unit sounds more than adequate, unless its faulty or the connection is unreliable?

Yes, we had power issues at first when running from a Maplin power tank.

I wondered if it could be cold or dew/damp getting inside?

Its certainly possible, almost every problem like yours I have read about has been power related.

Possibly a dodgy connection on the power supply side , mine used to do the same now and again.

It can be cable from power supply to mount ...

I had 5m long cable if i slwed both axis at same time exactly that would happend

changed to 1.5m long thicker cable and no problems ever since
