Do I still have tracking on when using phd

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've just started using a qhy5 with phd guiding but, listening to the mount drives when it's guiding, I can hear phd fighting the normal tracking.

Should I switch the tracking off and let the guide camera control all the mount movement?

Anyone got some ideas here? I expect that this has been asked before?

Many thanks, David

The mount still needs to track, phd will send it corrections to adjust the normal tracking rate and keep the guide star centred. On my heq5 the best way I can describe the sound is normal tracking with an occasional spin up of true drives.
