Nebulosity 3 : Image Alignment

Recommended Posts

In an attempt to move my processing to the Mac only, I've downloaded the trial of Nebulosity.

I've managed to run through the flat/bias master creation and apply those to the raw images, normalize and de-bayer as per the walk through document, last hurdle is stacking / alignment ....

It doesn't seem to matter which stars I use, Translation + Rotation just isn't working for me, I always get smeared stars (the original data is fine, I have pre filtered out the bad stuff and the average rotation between subs is pretty minimal.)

Any thoughts on what I can try to correct this?

also insterested in the answer to this as i have had the same issue smeared stars in the end i went back to DSS and it stacked the subs fine

but i prefer the calibration steps in nebulosity so would like to use it instead of DSS

I had this when I was trying out Neb and managed to fix it. What was the stacking function set to? I think I changed it from average and the problem went away.

It was greyed out IIRC and I just flicked the radio button from save stack to save file and back again which enabled the stacking function option :)

I did a stack to individual files using Average then a stack to a single file using Std Dev 1.5 (as per the walk through.)

I will try again with a few various options : I've also emailed the dev :)
