Webcam vs DSLR question

I have a webcam (modded xbox360 cam) and a DSLR (Canon 1100d). I understand that the webcam is roughly equivalent to a 5mm lens and this seems about right when I use mine. The 1100d is very different when used (prime focal), having no way near the same magnification as the webcam. Why are they so different?

The field of view of a webcam is about the same as 6mm eyepiece a DSLR will have a greater field of view because of the greater size of the DSLR's sensor. You can check this out on this Field of View Calculator
