Recommended Posts

Has anyone used one these make cams Mini dv cam JVC-GRDVL150E

I just got it today says night scope on side of cam i just checked spec for it says it's ccd sensor Mos (CCD)

not bad for 5 quid :(

Specs for JVC-GRDVL150E

Has NightScope feature, which enables to work in very low light conditions and still produce bright colour images.

cant wait to test it sometime when it's clear sky see if picks up any stars with it.

Watched few youtube video's of people using camera

Searched youtube couple vids people took with camera looks good on sky like during day

Will let ya know how it goes when video/snap shot night sky.

mite be pretty cool on it's own or possibly attach to me binoculars or telescope.

Tested cam last night on cloudy not clear sky seemed to pick up clouds like very bright so wounder what cam be like on clear sky mite pick up stars

the exposure setting on cam is super

has 3 different lens settings 10x , 40x or 300x

Going to wait till clear sky then test on star light

mite possibly remove ir filter sometime so picks up infrared before do that mod i wait test cam on clear sky first before do any modding.

Oh you do like to tinker Cliff!!! Im starting to rip things apart myself:D

Not tinkering with this mini dv camcorder just yet says it's ccd sensor like so it's interesting.

tested cam on it's own in dark seems to be pretty ok with long exposure setting even has it's own night light.

but i'll make it infrared sometime and add some ir led's :hello2:

waiting for break in clouds to test on night sky first before take it apart and remove ir filter so on make it more sensitive to light.

Just sent off for ten meter audio/video cable for it so can leave it on tripod sometime.

and watch on me pc with easycap dongle rather than connecting cam itself to pc.

or watch it on me tv first .

Like feature night scope low light technology

lens looks pretty ok i can see ir filter inside will remove that possibly sometime.

May use as skycam if picks stars up pretty cool or maybe modify it to telescope from sensor of camera mite be pretty cool mod with it been ccd sensor or mite just attach to binoculars from lens to lens way.

need to buy another tripod sometime for it.

Cam outdoors with this image picked green dot thing is i cant see

this green dot with me own eyes maybe cam got some kind sensor in it.

I'm tempted to remove it's ir filter make it more sensitive to light what you rekon ?

Cam is now in bits i removed original lens and ir filter

Cam project telescope attachment needs making for ccd sensor.

ccd%20project%202.jpg

Just needs some tape and put box together then make ccd more center in tube and attach to telescope.

ccd%20project%201.jpg

Cam test Switched cam on and sensors working very very very sensitive

will test in couple days when get some decent tape to tape up box

get it all stable before put it to telescope will test in couple days when next get some tape.

Probably remove some plastic make box more lighter so wont wobble when put it all on telescope.

come back in couple days may have pic of it all working.

I rekon with sensor been ccd and very sensitive to light gunna work awesome with me telescope.
