Anyone one own a Nexstar 5SE?

and care to summarise how they've found it "day to day" (well probably night to night)? Good point and less good points, please.

good optics,

decent goto,

portable

Apparture.- 5" from a dark site is good but from an urban site is only adequate.

price- its very expensive the 6se gives better views and better vfm

to sum up- I like my scope, but if portability or goto is not essential get a 200 or 250p dob

the nexstar se is the best alt az goto around but the 6 and 8se are the best scopes. the 5se is overpriced a little better than a 127 mak but not in my opinion £100's of pounds better

Is what I'd heard - had a 250 Dob, but was too big (took up all of the back seat and the mount most of the boot) Flo have them for £645 which isn't a bad price.

I'd use at Seething with Norwich AS - a very dark site.
