barlows and eyepieces

Recommended Posts

Hello, I've got a skywatcher 130p (as most of you know)

Just wondering what would be the best eyepiece that could cope with the focal length (650)

And what barlow lens would be best.

I have a 3x barlow lens at the moment but that seems a little too powerful.

I'm awaiting delivery of a 2x barlow lens, I've had the telescope for 4 weeks, skiesnscopes still haven't sent it ...

Hi Charlie, a 2x Barlow will be best, also a 12mm (54x) and an 8mm (81x) ep will work well in your scope, and can be doubled with the Barlow on nights of good seeing. BST Explorers (now called StarGuiders) will be perfect for your scope.

you could reasonably go all the way to a 3mm eyepiece.

You have a fast(ish) scope, an F/5.

all numbers below are WITHOUT using a barlow.

3mm for a magnification of x216

4mm will give you magnification of x162

6mm will give a magnification of x108

8mm gives a magnification of x81

10mm magnifies to x65
