Any use for a flattener on GSO 8" RC ?

Hi all !

When I first got my RC, I got myself a 2" TS flattener as well.

Today, I checked two sets of images.

One was an M101 that I treated (7 hours exposition with a baaderized 450D, with flattener), and the other one shot by a friend, a 10mn sub without a flattener.

And to my surprise, superposing this images showed absolutely NO misplacement of stars. At all.

So Should I conclude that a flattener for this tube is completely useless ? TS advertises this item to be used especially for 10 and 8" GSO RCs...
