Phenix 150mm F5 refractor

Recommended Posts

Nice looking scope. I didn't know Phenix did a 6" F/5. CA is bound to be prominent in a large aperture, fast achromat but I'll bet it's a really nice low power, "rich field" scope for visual use ;)

Okay for low power visual use - okay with my OWL 50mm 2" eyepiece.

Nice looking scope and a great buy at £100.

Have you consider doing narrow band imaging with it? From what I understand that will eliminate the problem of CA.

Yes - it's something I'm dabbling with. I think the optics might just be too poor though, I'm still getting bloated stars.

Sample 7nm narrow band image- low down, through light polluted skies. Picked up plenty of HA through the orange haze but couldn't get any sharpness. Not really a fair test, extreme conditions really, could have been a lot of 'twinkling' at that altitude.
