Saturn hardly changes in size as it orbits quite far from the sun so regardless of where Earth is in its orbit, Saturn is still very far away.

There is an effect that occurs on the night of the opposition where the rings get brighter for a brief time as the ring particles have no visible shadows when the sun is directly behind the Earth.

I would say Saturn is more interesting to look at away from opposition as you can see the planet's shadow on the rings.
