Which lens to buy????

This maybe a stupid question... as i am new to astronomy, can anyone tell me which is the better Barlow lens, the x3 or x5, i have a AstroMaster® 130EQ-MD telescope...... and i am looking to buy a new lens....many thanks

I think you are likely to get more use out of the x3 ... What EP's are you thinking of using with the Barlow?

Hi Peter, ill be using a1.25" .... 20mm Erect if that's any help....Wayne

what eyepieces to you currently use , the 20mm , any more ?

I would think about more EP's before a Barlow, the high the mm number the less the magnifacation but the wider the FOV, so a 30mm is low power wide field of view, a 6mm is more power but less in the view finder. Hope i'm not teaching you to suck eggs...

think your right tinker, thats why i asked what e/p's he has . i suuspect 20 an 10mm, something along those lines. dont think a barlow would be much use .

I too suggest eyepiece first. Barlow is only there to multiply the power/magnification of eyepieces.
