Hi chaps, I have a Meade LX90 8". I want to view the annular eclipse and the transit of venus. With my scope is it possible to view the sun with some filter or other piece of kit. I am sure this will come up as these events approach. Much appreciated. allen g from Los Angeles California:icon_scratch:

You can make a full aperture solar filter with Baader Astrosolar safety film. It is suppose to be one of the best white light solar filter.

Solar Observation

Remember, only use front mounted filter (Full aperture or sub aperture with mask). No other type of filters will work on a SCT and you risk damage to your telescope, CCD and eyes if you use filter system mounted elsewhere in the optical system.
