Stupid question

You could make a spectrometer and point it at a known star with an exoplanet and take a reading. do this night after night untill one night you will get a different pattern of light, this may be the atmosphere of said exoplanet.

You can make a spectrometer really cheap.

Don't think its a stupid question at all,I would think there are many amateur astronomers who have looked at the portion of the sky that is covered by Kepler,although most will recognise that you won't see exoplanets directly,its awe-inspiring to know that you are looking at an area that DOES have planets:icon_eek:
