Checking out the BBC today and stumbled across this:

BBC News - Road lighting 'could be dimmed' for street lights getting dimmed during quiet periods. Don't know if anyone has seen this but the article says the highway agency could be looking into it in 2012/2013.

Seemingly doing it to 'save money' but could be good news for the skies above
